Two-Factor Authentication

BoardCloud supports optional 2FA security for member logins. This optional security layer adds valuable protection to the board papers and other sensitive business information  stored in your BoardCloud board portal.

About 2FA

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is a security measure that requires users to provide two forms of verification before accessing an account. It enhances security by combining two of the following:

  1. Something You Know – A password or PIN.
  2. Something You Have – A mobile device, security key, or authentication app.
  3. Something You Are – Biometric data like fingerprints or facial recognition.

How It Works:

  • A user enters their password (first factor).
  • A second factor (e.g., a one-time code from an app, SMS, or hardware key) is required to complete the login.
  • Only after verifying both factors is access granted.

Why It’s Good Security Practice:

  • Mitigates Password Breaches – Even if a password is stolen, unauthorized access is blocked without the second factor.
  • Protects Against Phishing & Keyloggers – Attackers can't log in without the second factor.
  • Enhances Account Security – Especially crucial for banking, email, and sensitive data accounts.

2FA significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized access and is recommended for all critical online accounts.
